Etobicoke Business Network

Being in business for yourself doesn't have to mean being in business by yourself!  If you are the owner of a small to medium-sized business in the Etobicoke area, you owe it to yourself to find out about the Etobicoke Business Network.

Ralph Evans is the organizer of this community group.  He says "It is all about forging strong business relationships and creating vibrant connections in the Etobicoke business community."

The goal is to provide a place that enables participants to make the right connections to grow their businesses and have healthy, strong business networks, without the high fees associated with some of the other networking groups one finds today.
.
Regular events are held in the Etobicoke area. A monthly gathering is being held at a local pub  It is also possible for local businesses to host an event at their place of business.

"You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want." - Zig Ziglar

Participants need to remember the word "work" is found in "Networking".  You can't expect to just show up once and receive a lot of referrals.  Over time, getting to know the other members builds trust. The better other members know you, the more comfortable it is for them to refer business to you. Sometimes there is the opportunity for members to do business directly with one another.  However, of greater value is to be referred by a member to an ongoing stream of clients!  In my real estate practice, my clients need services like movers, real estate lawyers, mortgage brokers, home inspectors, home staging advisors, renovators and so on.  I have come to know and trust several individuals providing these services that I am comfortable referring to my clients.

Some members have gone on to form partnerships and joint ventures, or bringing an associate in on a client assignment.  Another key benefit is to simply have a support network of other people experiencing many of the same business challenges, whom you can use for a sounding board.

The group is organized through meetup.com.  Check out the Etobicoke Business Network here!

Etobicoke Social Meet N Greet

One of the many hats I wear is that of organizer for the Etobicoke Social Meet N Greet Group.  The purpose of the group is simply to have some fun in the Etobicoke area and beyond.

I created the group as an opportunity to get out and interact socially with others in the Etobicoke Community. We strive to offer an open and welcoming experience for all participants - singles, couples, friends, young and old. Whether you are new in town or a long-time resident, this group is welcoming place for everyone.

Events include visiting local restaurants, pubs, wine tasting, theatres, exhibitions, walks, movies, business networking, sporting events, community events and community service.

The group is organized through the meetup.com website.  Participants can create their own profile on meetup for free and join our group for free.  Many of the outings and events are free or of minimal cost.  Participants purchase their own tickets for shows, movies, museums and so on.

Check out the group and see the list of upcoming events we have planned!

A Return to Blogspot

It really is hard to keep up with all the different social media platforms one gets involved with!

I thought it was time to return to this blog hosted on Google's blogger platform. In addition to all the other places I am writing, i thought this too could be a useful place to contribute some content.

I started blogging here here on July 4th, 2006. At the time my primary website was more static in nature and didn't allow for articles to be contributed. I stopped using this site once I moved my Etobicoke Real Estate website to the WordPress platform. Maybe I should have deleted this site completely at that point. However I imported this blog into my WordPress site and many of the articles had links or images still hosted here. So, I decided to leave this alone. Over time, I did notice in my Google Analytics results that I was still getting visitors to my website coming from here.

As time goes by an abandoned site starts to reflect badly on its owner. People think perhaps you've dropped off the edge of the planet, or something. So today I am happy to announce my return to the Blogger platform.

I plan to write articles here that touch on all my different business interests. My involvement with the Etobicoke Business Network, the Etobicoke Social Meet N Greet, and Agent Social Marketing. Wish me luck!
